It might be a struggle to get on with the new wife, but make an effort for the sake of giving a good speech. Again, if you are a business speaker for the day, know what you are talking about. If you have to give a speech on a product or service, learn every aspect of it before the event. Try and test the product or service. The internet is a good basis for research. You should find a website detailing the product or service. For generic products or services, why not try Youtube or Wikipedia? If the product is well known, try Wikipedia or even Youtube for further information.

If you need to sell to them, make sure you do it as best and non-aggressively as possible. If you are promoting their product, make sure you do them justice. Should you fail, don't expect to be asked to give a speech again.
Practising equals best preparation
The worse keynote speech will come through lack of preparation. The most skilled keynote speakers will practise over and over again. How about using cue cards? Commit the speech to memory.
