Who Invented Golf?

By Ronald N. Cummins

If you are a fan of golf and you don't have a slight clue on who the inventors of the game were then you are mistaken, it's not your hobby. I will help you out with that; it was in Scotland that the first piece of golf was hit by the Scots. It was actually a rock which was hit using a stick.

Before 1750, sand acted as the ground on which the balls were hit but after that generation came around, much better techniques were invented to make the game what it is today. This discovery went down in Edinburg, Scotland.

If you decide to look deep in what brought about golf then you will be surprised to find out that the golf balls had a key role they played. This is the foundation on which the Scots came up with the various ideas like using stones as well as the leather balls plus the gutta-percha ball.

The rubber cored ball made it to the centre stage in 1898 and it used to go more than 400 yards. This discovery didn't last for long because the golfers were still not satisfied with the type of ball they had and that's why the opted for the worn balls in 1905.

The golf balls are hit with the golf clubs and this is why the clubs were also invented. A bow maker in Scotland made the first move when he was asked to make one club for the King James IV and he didn't hesitate.

I think this was the hardest equipment that gave these people some hard time. It took a lot of effort to design the club yet the whole process was too expensive. The end result was always shaming because the clubs broke easily.

Golf is played on a tee and in the olden days, the tee was made of rubber with three pongs. Just because today the tee sticks on the ground it doesn't mean it was the same case in the past.

Nowadays the tee that is being used was invented in 1897 by PM Matthews and it sticks in the ground to give you a good playing area.
