There is a special tie that binds the parents to his child. This special relationship is enhanced in time and over the course of their lives. You only get to appreciate this experience the moment you find yourself in this relationship.
In fact, this special relationship has been a subject being studied by students of child development as most people would want to understand how this started and developed.
The moment couples become parents, their lives changed. They focus more on this young, helpless baby and his needs. The moment the baby cries, the parents feed him, comfort him and simply rush to him. Their world stops and revolves around this baby. Despite all the difficulties parents go through to take care of their baby, they feel tenderness, joy, pleasure and so much love.
Eventually, the baby will rely on his parents for all his needs. These needs are not only physical, mental but also emotional needs. On the other hand, parents develop some sort of radar that is tuned in towards their child; anticipating danger and becoming protective of them. This is the start of a relationship developed between a child and his parents.
However, this relationship changes when a child is exposed to a different environment outside his home. He becomes involved with other activities like school and play. He develops friendship with people other than his parents. Eventually they prefer to spend more time with others than their own parents. A communication gap has developed.
Although one cannot totally blame a child, parents have their own share of blames too. Sometimes parents are unreasonably strict towards their child. Other times they are too busy to spend quality time with their child because of their busy schedule.
So many restrictions are imposed; communication gaps widen as parents spend more time at work than spending quality time with their kids. Most children would feel uncomfortable sharing stuffs with his parents for the fear that they might not understand.
If you have a communication gap in your family, you have to start finding solution to it before the problem gets worse. Talk to your child and try to reach out to him. Save your relationship before it's too late.
